Blu-ray Review: Superbad

In Superbad, best friends Evan (Michael Cera) and Seth (Jonah Hill) are two weeks away from graduating high school, and are desperate to lose their virginity before going off to different colleges in the fall. They are, however, far from popular — Evan is a shy sweater-wearing geek and Seth is chubby potty-mouth who can turn any conversation into a lewd sexual innuendo.

Seth has finally scored them an invite to a house party but only if he can bring booze for the under-age crowd. The only problem is that both Evan and Seth aren’t old enough to buy alcohol legally, but their uber-geeky friend Fogell (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) says he can organize an ID. Optimism quickly fades as Fogell rocks up with the horrendously fake ID claiming he’s a 25-year-old Hawaiian organ donor whose name is simply, McLovin.

Is this the start of a slippery slope to disaster?

The problems go from bad to superbad when McLovin becomes a victim in a liquor store robbery and runs into two irresponsible and totally unhinged cops Michaels (Seth Rogen) and Slater (Bill Hader). They offer to take McLovin to the party — shooting, beating, and boozing as they tear across the city in their cop car. With McLovin gone, Evan and Seth are left to fend for themselves, and need find another way to deliver alcohol to the party before the night ends and takes with it any chances of getting laid…

superbad 01 Blu ray Review: Superbad

Like McLovin, this teen movie *@^&ing rules! Seriously though, it would be easy to dismiss Superbad as just another crass teenage movie, but if you did, you would be missing out on what is definitely one of the funniest teen movies ever made. It is filled with truly embarrassing and authentic-feeling moments of teenage ineptitude and lust. The nerdy heroes who are disgusting, offensive, and appealing all at the same time are likely to bring memories of your own terrifying teenage years flooding back.

Superbad has a run time of 118 minutes and is rated PG. This 2-Disc Unrated Extended Edition Blu-ray release presents the film re-mastered in High Definition (HD) and comes with special features including:
