hawx Geo Eye – Earth Observation Satellite used to map Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X.

The $100 million dollar GeoEye-1 satellite imagery has been used to map the ground of Ubisoft’s air-combat title ‘Tom Clany’s H.A.W.X’. The hi-res imagery from a 423 miles height of real-world locations will no-doubt make piloting the planes a very realistic experience.

The Geo-Eye-1 satellite at the time of it’s launch in 2008 was the world’s highest resolution commercial earth-imaging satellite and it is capable of imagery with details the size of 41 centimetres: this means that from high up in the sky, the satellite operators will be able to tell what size shoe I wear. I’m a UK 10, in case you don’t have a high-tech fancy pants satellite at hand :D
