Electronic Arts announced today that their next iteration of the popular racing franchise Need For Speed SHIFT, developed by Slightly Mad Studios will make its way into retail stores September 17, 2009. The game features the largest selection of cars in Need For Speed history, which will include the very pricey and rather sexy Pagani  Zonda.

“With Need for Speed SHIFT, we set out to create a racing game that pushes the genre and delivers something never before seen in a Need for Speed title,” said Patrick Soderlund, Senior Vice President at EA Games Europe. “By focusing on the driver’s experience through the first-person view, we are able to capture the high-speed intensity and gripping emotions of racing.”

The game features a brand new distorting dynamic and a new physics model that will allow the players to feel every impact, every surface bump and every bit of grip as you make your way along the race track.

Need For Speed SHIFT will be available for the 360, PS3, PC and PSP.

Now this actually sounds promising. I truly hope this is more successful than the previous installments as I quite enjoy the NFS franchise and would be most dissappointed to see another failure.
