Rumour: Sony to make a big PS3 announcement this week

Australian magazine Smarthouse reports that it’s received word that Sony may be planning a “global announcement” this week regarding the PS3. Speculation is that Sony may be cutting the price of the PS3 after pressure from publishers but in the US, the company’s senior vice president of global marketing Peter Dille, told Bloomberg that Sony has no plans to decrease prices.

Whether or not there is a price cut remains to be seen but we think in the long run Sony will have no choice but the cut the price of the most expensive console in the world.
