The number of unique purchases from the Xbox Live Marketplace has more than doubled in the last year. During the first quarter of 2009 the number of players purchasing game add-ones increased 220 percent which almost two and a half times better than the previous year.

Microsoft reckon 516 bits of DLC released, across 63 games, were released onto the XBL during the first three months of the year which in itself is a 62 percent increase over the same period in 2008

This growth is largely thanks to the success of the XBL exclusive DLC for Grant Theft Auto IV – Lost and Dammed and Fallout 3‘s DLC – Operation Anchorage and The Pitt.
