F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin – On the edge of our Seat we give you our Review

Finally, a shooter that wraps action and scary in a bright red bow of suspense and freakishly bizarre occurrences that will not only unsettle you but at times almost force you to take a deep breath before you continue. A superb combination of elements that portray developer Monolith’s intention to overload your senses and build tension that leaves you with only one outlet – to play on.
You play a brand new character, a Special Forces soldier unaware of what is going on and depending on whether or not you played F.E.A.R. you’d have a degree of insight to the happening around you and if not, you’d jump right into Michael Becket’s shoes and discover as you go. The vagueness of the strange events that are unfolding in front of your eyes adds to suspense of the game and as you progress, little clues are tossed your way that never leave you feeling disconnected to the extraordinary events that surround you.

F.E.A.R. 2 does a great job of keeping you on the edge of your seat, the game is genially scary and Monolith have done a great job of tantalizing your humanly ingrained flight or fight reflex by almost completely depriving you of all stimuli and then flashing you with strikingly, disturbing visuals. It’s like eating bland food for an entire month and then eating a spoon full of authentic Indian curry. It’s like an explosion in your mouth as the once deprived flavors work their way across your pallet, shocking and overwhelming you in such way that to you despise and love it at the same time.
A noteworthy compliment that one must pay the developers is the great job that they did with the AI. The hoards of enemies are intelligent to the point that it feels like you are playing against real people. They stay alert, active and continually reposition and regroup to charge and flank you. This, added with great level design that allows you and them, to handle attacks in a variety of ways amps up the dynamics of the game that keeps you on your toes and forces you to be creative in your not only your attacks but in your defenses too.
F.E.A.R. 2 incorporates the slow-motion system that was seen in F.E.A.R. and although the idea has been used a lot in games these days, its fits F.E.A.R. 2 like a glove. The ‘bullet time’ is an emotional runner; it takes all the feelings that your favorite movies have injected into you during their climatic sequences and brings it to every battle that you face in the game. Used in combination with the teeming selection of weapons at your disposal, it will boost your confidence and leave you eager to tackle each challenge that the game presents.

The environments and destructible and added with the slow-mo mechanic it makes them absolutely beautiful to watch as your bullets not only tear through the enemy but also the dilapidated, blood stained walls and pillars sending concrete careening through the air. After the many heated, backbreaking battles you will find yourself marveling at the destruction that has befallen. The game makes great use of colour throughout the many levels and is especially noticeable in the scary, out-worldly flashes that occur regularly as you make you way through the shattered city.
F.E.A.R. 2 is a great combination of class and superb direction and it will take you on a journey that will frighten your pants off. It will please that part of you that always asks for more, more gore, more blood and its climatic ending will no-doubt satisfy your need for more epic-ness. You will want to turn it off as your heart beat crescendo’s well above safe levels but that same part of you than wants more, will compel you to go on and you will love every single minute of it.

ok im really enjoying this game at the mo
if you played and liked the 1st fear then you’ll love this one as well
alma is back and is no longer a girl but is a fully growen women
same sort of play as the 1st fear, each level there is one way to go to the end of the level, shooting any thing that comes along as well as also looking for the intel which isnt hard to find at all,
badies are not to hard to kill even on the hardest mode but some bits can be a little hard of the younger gamer and every now and then you come across badies with power armor and these are tricky to kill and even worst if your low on ammo.
also there is parts were you yourslelf can get inside some power armor and shoot up everyone, the power armor is near enough the same sort of thing you get into at the end of killzone
the game being called fear, and @ sometimes this is ture of the game as a few times it scared the hell out of me and made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up lol.
i usally play the game @ nite with the lights off and a few drinks which is the best way to play a game like this and get the fullness of scary’ness
DEFO PLAY IT AT NITE IN THE DARK
the story’s fine even more so if you played the 1st fear and the controls are great too, nothing to mad or hard to get a hold of,defo a pick up and play game.
graphic’s ain’t to bad but are not the best i seen, but guess that cus most of it is dark and made to feel sort of freaky and scary
so just a wee quick review from me for anyone thats thinking of getin it
defo worth gettin or even worth a trade in
i give this game a 8/10
enjoy
