Interview with RA1NKING

1.)How long have you been playing video games, and are fighting
games your forte?

I have been playing games since the commodore 64 launched. Since then i have played on PC , commodore , ZX Spectrum , genesis , super Nintendo , Nintendo 64 , Playstation 1 , 2 , 3 and xbox 1 and now my favourite Xbox 360. I have always enjoyed fighting games but i wouldn’t say they are my forte. Im a big capcom fanboy and have been a huge fan of games like onimusha , devil may cry , lost planet etc. I would say im more into 3rd person action adventure.

2.)What is your favorite fighting character and from what game?
I would say my favourite character would have to be Akuma ( Gouki ) from the street fighter series.

3.)How do you “train” yourself to be a good fighter, do you read the manual or just jump straight into fighting someone?
I normally read the manual and check out the moves , I then just jump in and also once i feel like im getting better i adjust the difficulty settings. I also watch youtube vids of the guys in tournaments to pick up some game styles that seem to work.

4.)Do you feel any pressure to win because of your hight game score
I don’t really feel any pressure at all. Im definitely not the best fighting game player , not even top 10 to be honest. Im just very patient and try to finish all my games to the maximum. A lot of the time with games like MK vs Dc and Street Fighter 4 it takes hours to pull off one combo in a combo challenge. I just focus and remember I only have to do it once. Also a high gamerscore just means you play a lot of games , not that you are a pro at them :-) . I would rate Draeka the best fighting game player in S.A.

5.)Do you think you have what it takes to fight in a tournament
overseas should the opportunity arise? If so how well do you think
you’d do?

I don’t think I have the necessary skills as i never focus on one game long enough. If i did focus on one fighting game for months at a time i think anything is possible. However the amount of good games thatcome out makes it impossible for me to focus on one game for so long.

6.)Do you have any advice for people who’d like to become better
at Street Fighter IV? i.e. the basics what do you need to get right
first.

I would highly recommend having a few fights with people like Draeka who also help you up your game. He gives good advice and points out wholes in your game and how to improve them. I would also suggest doing some reading at http://shoryuken.com/ and watching some youtube videos of the pros.

7.What is your favorite martial arts movie
Bruce Lee – Enter the Dragon
